Why should I participate in this program?
Autism is one of the fastest growing developmental disorders in the United States. It is estimated that 1 in every 44 children have been diagnosed with autism, according to the CDC. With the increasing rate of autism diagnoses, it is very likely that your faith community will encounter a family that has a child with autism. Studies have found that over half of parents with special needs children do not participate in religious services because support is not provided for their children. Taking part in this program will help your church become more aware of how to effectively welcome families with special needs into your ministry.
Is this program only limited to Christians?
No. A majority of the participants for this network are of the Christian faith. However, this is a faith-based initiative in which people from any religion can participate.
How much does this program cost?
This program is free! The activity you choose will determine if you need a special budget. There are several activity ideas that are free or low cost.
My church is small. Is there a certain number of people required to participate?
Churches of any size with any budget can participate! There is no size requirement.
