Autism Awareness Month is here! Each year, we recruit and empower places of worship to do activities for this special observance. In 2020, we had to be creative about our Accessible Faith Initiative events due to COVID-19. This year is no different. However, the need for awareness and advocacy is still the same, if not greater! We are offering two options this year to address the need.
The first option is for our churches. Those that agreed to participate in the Accessible Faith Initiative will be invited to participate in our Weekly Spotlights. These Facebook Live events will focus on a topic related to autism each week, with giveaways available for eligible participants!
The second option is our FREE webinars that are open to the public. You don’t want to miss these webinars!
- April 18th at 4:00pm EST – Dr. Lamar Hardwick, also known as Autism Pastor, will be our guest. He will be discussing his new book, “Disability and the Church: A Vision for Diversity and Inclusion.” Register at: bit.ly/AutismPastor.
- April 25th at 4:00pm EST – Salina Miller, Patricia Parker and Charisse (Nikki) Montgomery will be discussing their book, “We Dare Be Brave: African-American Moms and the Emotional Journey of Raising Children with Disabilities.” Register at: bit.ly/WeDareBeBrave.
We hope that you will be able to join one of our accessible faith initiative events! It is our honor to host these events and we hope to do even more in the future as we continue to grow!
